Catriona Ryan
Catriona Ryan was a scholarship student with Doris Keogh
at the Royal Irish Academy of Music. She went on to pursue
undergraduate flute and piccolo studies at the Royal Northern
College, England, with Trevor Wye, Richard Davies (BBC Philharmonic
Orchestra) and Patricia Morris (BBC Symphony Orchestra). Upon
graduation Catriona was offered a position of sub-principal
flute and principal piccolo with the RTÉ National Symphony
Orchestra of Ireland, a position which she continues to hold
and enjoy to this day. Outside the orchestra Catriona has
acted as tutor to the woodwind section of the National Youth
Orchestra of Ireland and to the flute section of the NYOI
under-eighteens. She has appeared as a soloist, chamber musician
and adjudicator and performs regularly with the Orchestra
of St Cecilia and the Irish Film Orchestra.
